SUMMARY:Alliance City Band Concert
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday with an authentic “living history” concert recreating the Alliance City Band presented by the Alliance Historical Society and American Musical Productions. The Alliance City Band provided music for the community from 1859 until 1992. American Musical Productions will transport audiences back a century recreating a program from the band’s golden years under the direction of Emil Rinkendorf. \nJoseph N. Rubin conducts a 23-piece concert band of Northern Ohio’s finest musicians attired in period uniforms. The FREE 75-minute concert based on a recently discovered July 1926 Alliance City Band program will feature many beloved band classics. Step back in time to hear the same music your great-grandparents enjoyed in Silver Park including “Zampa Overture\,” “Selections from The Merry Widow\,” “War Songs of the Boys in Blue\,” along with patriotic marches by Emil Rinkendorf\, Karl King and\, of course\, John Philip Sousa! \nOne of the foremost authorities on historic American music\, Joseph N. Rubin has restored\, produced\, and conducted “living history” concerts and musicals across the country. Mr. Rubin founded American Musical Productions\, a Canton\, Ohio based 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and performing historic American Musical Theatre and Popular Song 1890-1940. www.americanmusicalproductions.org
