DESCRIPTION:American Musical Productions Director and musicologist Joseph Rubin takes you on a musical multimedia journey through his efforts to uncover and recreate turn of the century band concert programs. Featuring video clips from his “living history” concerts throughout the state and newly discovered facts about the Alliance City Band and its long time director Emil Rinkendorf. Don’t miss this deep dive in to Alliance’s musical past (and then see it recreated live at Silver Park on July 4th).\nOn July 4\, 1926\, the Alliance City Band performed its first Silver Park concert. The Miller Pavilion provided the “stage” and the audience watched from the hills beside the pavilion.

SUMMARY:International Take Your Child to the Library Day
DESCRIPTION:Children of all ages are welcome to take a special storywalk around Rodman Public Library on February 7\, which is international Take Your Child to the Library Day.\nBetween 10 a.m. and noon\, patrons will be able to follow the story “Snow Falls” by Kate Gardner around the library. Along the way\, they will encounter stations that will feature a number of STEAM winter-themed activities\, including those that will allow youngsters to explore states of matter\, snow and animal tracks\, how snow reflects light\, camouflage through a hide-seek-animal hunt\, measuring snow\, and making your own ice cream. Along the way\, there will also be a craft and a station where kids will assemble a felt snowman. Kids will also experience a snowball fight using fabric snowballs and sock skating on a synthetic ice rink.\nAssisting with the program will be student volunteers from the University of Mount Union who are completing a capstone project. \nBluey will also make an appearance. \nAt the end of the afternoon\, each child will receive a free winter-themed book.

Rather\, he’s out to show that the history was never recorded properly in the first place in his first book\, Hidden Disgrace: Revealing the Distress Signals Covered by North American Indian Myths. He will discuss his book\, sell copies and sign them when he visits Rodman Public Library on Monday\, November 10 at 6:30 p.m. as part of the 2025 Fogle Author Series. Registration is required to attend the event. An attorney living in Dayton\, the book is the result of a visit to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota in April 2014\, after which he grappled with understanding the reasons for the harsh living conditions there.
