GAF, in its sole discretion, shall determine the approval of a charitable non-profit organization to participate in the TOGETHER FUND. The Organization must serve the greater Alliance area in a manner consistent with and in furtherance of GAF’s charitable purposes. Once approved, the Organization will be designated on the “Approved Organization List” as a participant of the TOGETHER FUND.
GAF is unable to include hospitals, schools, religious organizations, or service organizations such as Rotary or Kiwanis in the TOGETHER FUND. The purpose of the TOGETHER FUND is to help grow small local grassroots organizations and their donor base.
APPLICATION
To participate in the TOGETHER FUND, a charitable non-profit organization must have:
- An established Endowment Fund held at GAF.
- Complete the application below.
- Provide all the following required documentation: Current Board of Directors Roster with Contact Information, Executive Staff Roster with Contact Information, Most Recent Audit or Financial Statement, Most Recent IRS Form 990, IRS 501(c)(3) Determination Letter.
ADMINISTRATION
- Any written or printed description and/or promotion of the TOGETHER FUND must be consistent with the guidelines and approved by GAF prior to its printing and distribution to ensure accuracy of information by an Approved Organization.
- An Approved Organization may not contribute to the TOGETHER FUND to support another Approved Organization, nor may an Approved Organization contribute on its own behalf to receive GAF match.
CONTRIBUTIONS TO ORGANIZATION
- No goods or services can be provided by the Organization to the Donor in exchange for the Donor’s contribution to the TOGETHER FUND, such as memberships with benefits, meals, tickets, gala seats, etc, in compliance with IRS Code Section 170(f)(8).
- An individual Donor or Donor Family must identify in writing the Organization they wish to support and include the Organization’s name on the memo line of the check.
- Each Donor or Donor Family may contribute between $100 and $5,000 to be matched annually to the TOGETHER FUND for each Approved Organization. This limit applies to the combined contributions of all individuals within the same Donor Family. A Donor Family may support any number of Approved Charities in a calendar year. For the purposes of this program, a “Donor Family” includes any lineal descendants.
- Checks should be made payable to the Greater Alliance Foundation, mailed or collected by the Organization, and then delivered in bulk to the Greater Alliance Foundation, 960 West State Street, Suite 220, Alliance, Ohio 44601, to receive an additional contribution from GAF to the Approved Organization. We are able to accept money orders made payable to the Greater Alliance Foundation and cash, but prefer checks or money orders.
- Contributions can also be made by credit card online through GAF’s website, www.GreaterAllianceFoundation.org. The Donor can choose your specific TOGETHER FUND, and you can promote your TOGETHER FUND with a QR Code or URL.
- You may link your organization’s website to GAF’s website to ensure easy access for your Donors to maximize contributions to your organization through the TOGETHER FUND.
5% MATCH
- If and to the extent a Donor/Donor Family’s recommendation for distribution to an Approved Organization is approved by GAF, GAF will make an additional distribution from its Unrestricted Funds to such Approved Organization equal to 5% of the approved distribution, subject to the following limitations: a) an additional distribution will be made by GAF only with respect to the first $5,000.00 of the Donor/Donor Family’s contribution; and b) the maximum match by GAF per Approved Organization in any given year is $5,000.00 in total.
- All recommendations will be solely advisory in nature and are not binding on GAF. GAF will have sole discretion and control with respect to the distributions from the TOGETHER FUND. All contributions to the TOGETHER FUND will be used by GAF to support the “Approved Organization List” and not for other purposes; however, no Approved Organization shall have the right at any time to any portion of the TOGETHER FUND.
DISTRIBUTION
- Donors’ contributions/checks are deposited daily; however, the Approved Organization’s balance and matching percentage payments are distributed on a monthly basis by GAF. An organization may request a report of Donors in writing to GAF.
- GAF retains the power to modify any restrictions or conditions on the distribution of restricted funds if, in its sole judgment, such restrictions or conditions become unnecessary, incapable of fulfillment, or inconsistent with the charitable needs of the community.
