Family of Funds

The Greater Alliance Foundation features funds established by individuals, families, corporations, private foundations, and nonprofit organizations. Contributing to one of our more than 80 funds – or starting your own – supports the overall improvement of our community.

Greater Alliance Community Fund (1999)

This fund is our savings account for the future of our community. Help us help the community through an unrestricted gift to the Greater Alliance Community Fund. The purpose of this fund is to address the community’s greatest needs.

This fund was established by the B. L. Miller Foundation to continue her philanthropic legacy in supporting nonprofit agencies in Sebring and Alliance.

Beech Creek Botanical Gardens Agency Fund (2018)

Beech Creek Botanical Gardens believes that quality of life and the health of the environment are interdependent and that an understanding of nature improves the lives of individuals. BCBG provides educational opportunities and interactive experiences that inspire people to be good stewards of their communities and world.

Beech Creek Botanical Gardens Together Fund (2022)

Beech Creek Botanical Gardens provides educational opportunities and interactive experiences that inspire people to be good stewards of their communities and world. For every donation to this Together Fund between $100 and $5,000, GAF will provide a matching grant of 5% and return the original donation to Beech Creek Botanical Gardens.

Betty A. Sheetz Charitable Fund (2024)

Betty’s husband Ernie was the first Executive Director of the Greater Alliance Foundation and she established this charitable fund to expand their family legacy of giving. The Betty A. Sheetz Charitable Fund honors their commitment to philanthropy and benefits a variety of charities in the greater Alliance area.

Betty Lou and Linton Honaker Family Fund (2024)

This fund was opened by Richard and Sandra Honaker to support education and literacy outreach. Named in honor of Richard’s parents, the fund is also supported by his siblings, Diana (Ron) Priest, Rob (Monica Weekes) and Emily Honaker. As lifelong learners and educators, Linton and Betty Lou valued the power of education and their family is proud to honor their legacy through this fund.

Brad and Sue Goris Donor Advised Fund (2021)

Brad and Sue established their DAF with proceeds from the sale of real estate to meet the many needs of their favorite charities.

This fund was established by Lloyd Carlile to support programs that aim to reduce food insecurity in the greater Alliance area.

Carlile Scholarship Fund (2005)

This scholarship is available to graduating seniors of Marlington High School, or graduating seniors of other high schools who are current or past employees of Custom Poly Bag, Inc. or are graduating senior children of current or past employees of Custom Poly Bag, Inc.

Carnation City Players Agency Fund (2012)

Carnation City Players is a volunteer-based, performing arts organization located in Alliance’s historic Firehouse Theater. CCP’s mission is to foster the enrichment of the performing arts throughout the community and present and produce a wide variety of quality live theater productions.

Carnation City Players Scholarship Fund (2014)

This scholarship is for high school seniors pursuing post-secondary education who intend to study theater arts and/or plan for future involvement with community theater.

Carol Ogline Memorial Fund (2023)

This fund was established in memory of Carol A. Ogline. Throughout her life, she served on boards for the Alliance YWCA, Keep Alliance Beautiful, the Alliance Green Taskforce, and Alliance Area Habitat for Humanity. This fund supports access to education for under privileged children.

Castle Crusaders Agency Fund (2009)

Castle Crusaders maintains the enhancement, preservation and protection of the Glamorgan Castle that sits on twenty acres owned by the Alliance City Schools. Col. William Henry Morgan built this home and each year thousands of visitors come to admire the beauty and uniqueness of this Alliance landmark.
