Family of Funds
The Greater Alliance Foundation features funds established by individuals, families, corporations, private foundations, and nonprofit organizations. Contributing to one of our more than 80 funds – or starting your own – supports the overall improvement of our community.
Greater Alliance Community Fund (1999)
This fund is our savings account for the future of our community. Help us help the community through an unrestricted gift to the Greater Alliance Community Fund. The purpose of this fund is to address the community’s greatest needs.

Castle Crusaders Together Fund (2024)
Castle Crusaders maintains the enhancement, preservation and protection of the Glamorgan Castle that sits on twenty acres owned by the Alliance City Schools. For every donation to this Together Fund between $100 and $5,000, GAF will provide a matching grant of 5% and return the original donation to Castle Crusaders.
Charles and Carol Grove Charitable Fund (2004)
Chuck and Carol established this DAF to give back to the community they love. This DAF has supported a wide variety of nonprofit organizations in the greater Alliance area.
Damon and Amanda Keller Charitable Donor Advised Fund (2021)
Damon and Amanda created this DAF to continue their philanthropy and support the community that has supported their family over the years.
Dan Matz Donor Advised Fund (2024)
This fund was established by Dan Matz to provide a generous stream of support to his favorite charities.
Dr. Barry Penturf Memorial Charitable Fund (2022)
Dr. Penturf’s daughters who maintain his dental practice, Ann and Stephanie, along with his wife Lynn established this fund to continue Barry’s generosity and support in the Alliance community.
Dr. Juliann Burnell Charitable Fund (2014)
Juli has been a long-time resident of the Dayton area and continues the legacy established by her parents, Romane and Betty Burnell, by establishing a DAF in her hometown.
Early Childhood Education Alliance Agency Fund (2020)
ECEA connects families with resources and programs that ensure children enter kindergarten ready to succeed. ECEA believes it is important to educate, advocate, and collaborate because early experiences last a lifetime.
Eileen and Robert Hunter, Sr. Charitable Fund (2011)
This fund was established by Attorney Robert Hunter, Jr. and his sister, Sue Hunter Commerson, to honor their parents in recognition for their support of the mission of the Stuckey Family Interfaith Child Development Center.
Ernest A. Sheetz Memorial Fund (2006)
This fund was created in memory of our first director to support quality early childhood education which he was instrumental in championing as a foundation initiative.
Fergason Family Charitable Fund (2023)
Lifelong Alliance residents Bruce and Linda Fergason chose to continue their charitable giving to various organizations which they are passionate about to build their legacy of giving by involving their adult children.
Friends of the Parks Cemetery Fund (2007)
The Alliance City Cemetery was established in 1826. This fund was established by probate order for the perpetual care of the Spring-Kinsbury burial plot and the George and Ada Shem burial plots along with any other charitable purpose that the Friends of the Parks deems appropriate.
Friends of the Parks General Fund (2007)
Friends of the Parks develops awareness and appreciation of the Alliance park system consisting of 220 acres and 24 parks for recreational purposes.
